The South Alabama Jaguars will visit Jordan-Hare Stadium for the first time in history on Saturday to battle the Auburn Tigers, and will receive a hefty payday for it.
According to a report by Adam Cole of The Montgomery Advertiser, Auburn will pay South Alabama $1.3 million to play a game on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The total is the same as the payout to Ball State, which played at Auburn last weekend. The contract, according to Cole as well as AL.com, also gives South Alabama a huge allotment of tickets for the game.
Saturday's game against South Alabama is the first against an in-state foe from the FBS level since 1996, and is the first of two games against such teams over the next two seasons. The Tigers will host Jax State on Sept. 26, 2026, for the second all-time meeting and the first since the Gamecocks moved to the FBS level ahead of the 2023 season. Last month, Thomas Ashworth of AL.com reported that Auburn will pay Jax State $1.5 million to play on the Plains next season.
Auburn faces South Alabama on Saturday for an 11:45 a.m. CT kickoff on SEC Network.
