Liverpool's Late Move for Guehi Collapses Over Gomez Standoff

Liverpool's dramatic pursuit of Marc Guehi ended in failure during the final hours of the summer transfer window with the deal collapsing despite the defender being cleared for medical.

According to The Sun, Crystal Palace insisted on including Joe Gomez as part of the agreement. Palace valued Guehi at 50 million sterling pound but were open to lowering the fee if Gomez was added to the deal.

Liverpool, however rejected the proposal outright. The Reds maintained that Gomez who still has two years left on his contract, would only be sold in separate transfer .. not as makeweight.

Guehi, in contrast has just 1 year remaining on his Palace deal making negotiations even more tense.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner & chairman Steve Parish had already greenlit Guehi's medical ahead of the proposed switch. But the breakdown over Gomez's inclusion meant the deal fell apart at the last moment.
