Taoiseach Micheál Martin announced that a new national housing plan is slated for release within the next month. The plan will establish the financial framework for housing initiatives over the next five years and beyond, according to statements made on RTÉ's Morning Ireland program on September 16, 2024.
Martin emphasized the necessity of increased private sector investment, particularly in apartment construction, to achieve the ambitious goal of building 50,000 to 60,000 new homes annually. He acknowledged that the State alone cannot meet the housing demand.
