Defender Ronnie Vint has rejoined Margate as manager Ben Greenhalgh contends with a lengthy injury list.
Vint has a busy life away from football, following his stint on the TV show Love Island.
But the former Dartford and Dulwich Hamlet centre-half came to Margate's aid last season - and is happy to do so again.
"With everything Ronnie's got going on outside football, we know he's not going to be there every week," said Greenhalgh.
"But he helped us out last year when we were low on players and he's helping us out again this year.
"A player like Ronnie makes a difference.
"He was doing pre-season with Dartford and he was close to re-signing but there's a lot of things with his social media presence which means he probably can't commit to everything.
"But we get along well, we know him, we've played together, he's played for Margate and it's something that works when we're in need, like we are at the moment."
Margate picked up their first Isthmian South East win of the season on Saturday, beating VCD 2-1 at Hartsdown Park.
Buoyed by their 2-0 midweek win at Thanet rivals Ramsgate in the Kent Senior Cup, goals from Ibrahim Olutade and Henry Young secured a welcome three points.
But they went into Tuesday night's goalless draw at Faversham with a number injuries, and Vint went straight into the team.
Tom Derry is facing more than a month out with a fractured ankle, although the severity is not yet known.
Kai Garande, Emmanuel Oke, Sam Blackman, Max Walsh, Kieron Agbebi and Louie Atkins were also on the treatment table.
Greenhalgh has also signed a couple of Dartford academy boys, Kelechi Nkwocha and Arisel Isufi, to bolster the squad while numbers are low.
Margate were good value for their win over VCD, following three defeats and a draw in their opening four games.
"We'd had three tough away fixtures with Sittingbourne, Ashford and Merstham," said Greenhalgh, speaking before the Faversham game.
"To get two draws from them, it isn't the end of the world, but it means when you play your home games, you have to get three points, and that's exactly what we did on Saturday.
"That was the main focus.
"We had a brilliant performance in the Thanet derby on Tuesday where we rotated players and they rotated players but still both teams went pretty strong in general and they brought on a lot of strong players after half-time.
"It was a proper fixture and in front of a crowd of 1,600, that gave us that confidence where we knew we could play in that way.
"We knew we had that energy to score those goals and dominate and win a game of football, and that took us on to Saturday.
"In general, I thought everything was good against VCD.
"We could have shown a little more quality.
"We went with the same team and they put in the same amount of effort, which is what matters.
"I don't think we showed enough quality to win five or six-nil, which is something we'd like to do more of at home, but the main focus was to get three points."
Margate meet Sevenoaks at Hartsdown Park this Saturday (3pm).
They lost the corresponding fixture 2-1 last season, a day Greenhalgh hasn't forgotten.
"It was the one occasion last season where I felt we were a long way off it," he said.
"I don't want to blame anything but that was the day Gabriel Duo ruptured his Achilles as we were going out to kick off and it did mess with everyone a little bit.
"Everyone heard it and we missed him massively. We had to make changes, things didn't work, and we were a little bit low on numbers.
"That's the one game I look back at where I don't think we gave a good account of ourselves for numerous reasons.
"But Sevenoaks were a good team and they're a good team this year. They've made a strong start to the season.
"When we're at home, we need to make sure we do everything we can to play in our way, hopefully put out as strong an XI as we possibly can, and take the game to the opposition."
