SmackDown had its worst numbers on USA with Tyson/Paul event on Netflix

Sean Rueter has been thinking too much about pro wrestling since at least WrestleMania I, and blogging about it for SBNation & Cageside Seats since around WrestleMania 28.

WWE SmackDown didn't air opposite either of the main events, but it seems like Netflix's Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul event sucked a lot of the oxygen out of the combat sports' room.

The Nov. 15 SmackDown had 1,234,000 viewers, a 20% drop from the previous week's total. With 18-49 year olds, it did a .32 rating -- a 32% decline from the previous Friday. Both were the blue show's lowest since moving to cable & USA Network two months ago.

Netflix says 60 million watched the Tyson/Paul "fight", with 50 million watching the co-main event between Amanda Serrano & Katie Taylor. Both happened after ended, but still may have had impacted WWE's numbers. There was direct competition from ESPN & the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers/San Antonio Spurs game won the night on cable with a .35 in the demo off an overall audience of 1.28 million. SmackDown finished second.

At 10 p.m Eastern, AEW took even more a body blow. Rampage had the second smallest audience (186K) and lowest 18-49 rating (.06) in its history.

We'll see how these numbers bounce back next week against normal competition. When we do, those numbers will be below with our regular rundown of the past year's worth of SmackDown's numbers:
