WATPA MNISOTA: THE MINNESOTA RIVER IN EARLY SHAKOPEE

Valleyfair will debut a multi-weekend event, Peanuts Celebration, for the 2019 season. Celebrating the beloved Peanuts characters, it will invite guests to step inside the pages of a Charles M. Schulz comic strip as the characters take over the park for the first time.The event will feature special Peanuts-inspired decor, comic strip photo ops, new character experiences, live shows, exclusive merchandise, themed treats and more.

Cost: daily admission tickets: $35; several ticket and season pass options available
The farmers market will include some of Minnesota's best local vendors including fresh vegetables, handmade items, gifts and much more. Skip the grocery store and come out and support local businesses and farmers.
Savage area residents can enjoy free music and movies all summer long. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. Limited seating is available. Greg Herriges performs Wednesday, June 19.

TORCH RUN FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS
The Shakopee Police Department is hosting its 16th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics. The public is invited to participate and help raise funds for Special Olympics. Runners, bicyclists and rollerbladers welcome. A vehicle will be available for anyone who needs a break. Registration includes a T-shirt. All proceeds go directly to the Special Olympics. The Special Olympics will also be donating used bicycles as door prizes; anyone who participates will be eligible.
The Castaways will entertain audiences as part of the 2019 Huber Park Performance & Event Series. The Huber Park Performance & Event Series features free, family-friendly entertainment on Thursdays and select Saturdays June through August.
This month's selection is "The Shadows We Hide" by Allen Eskens. New members are always welcome. SCHS requests that book club members become historical society members. All Things Minnesota Book club meets the third Thursday of each month.
Join the Parks and Recreation Department for an exciting morning of fishing in Lions Park. This youth event includes fishing, refreshments, goodies, games, prizes and more. The first 100 registrants will receive a free rod and reel combo. No experience is necessary; all gear will be provided. Space is limited, register early. Sponsored by the Shakopee Lions Club, Department of Natural Resources' Fishing in the Neighborhood Program and the Parks and Recreation Department.

Join us at St. Paul's Lutheran Church & School for the seminar "Understanding & Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior." Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways for people with dementia to communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present real challenges for caregivers to manage. Join us to learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer's disease. This free event is open to the public - no registration required.
The 3rd Annual Slow Flowers Summit is coming to St. Paul to stimulate curiosity, examine conventions and explore conscious and ethical practices in the floral industry. It includes tours of local farms and a dinner Green Earth Growers in Prior Lake. There will be an introductory talk and a tour. While you're getting to know the host farmer, our featured chef will be preparing a feast onsite with ingredients grown in the very fields you are touring. We will end back at the communal dinner table, where you will spend the rest of the afternoon sharing a delicious meal and listening to live music.
