Meanwhile, the national price of gas also fell in the last week, dropping 3.6 cents per gallon to average at $3.12 per gallon Monday.
The national average is down 1.8 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 2.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
"The good news is that the transition to cheaper winter gasoline begins tomorrow across most of the nation, and with improvements underway in the West Coast market, I expect that average gas prices will continue to decline in the weeks ahead in most states, assuming hurricane season remains quiet," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
