Two top-10 Texas high school football programs will meet Saturday in the 2024 UIL football playoffs and fans across the country can watch it live.
Galena Park North Shore, a powerhouse program about 12 miles northeast of downtown Houston, is taking on Humble Atascocita, another Houston-area juggernaut, in a premier postseason showdown. MaxPreps has North Shore as its No. 3 team in Texas and No. 6 in the nation. The 13-0 Mustangs are outscoring the competition by more than 400 points this season.
Humble Atascocita is the No. 8 team in the state, per MaxPreps, and No. 20 in the country. The Eagles beat touted Austin-area program Westlake earlier this season, snapping a 44-game win streak. In fact the only loss for the Eagles this season was to the Mustangs, 27-23, on Oct. 25.
North Shore swept Atascocita in two games last season -- once in the regular season and again in the playoffs.
Atascocita has several Division I prospects so fans of Big Ten football, SEC football and more may want to tune into the game at 2 p.m. For example, junior Cardae Mack is being recruited by Texas A&M, USC and host of other Power Four programs. North Shore features SEC and Big Ten talent as well, including Devin Sanchez, who may be the best defensive back in the U.S.

Several North Shore players have committed to a host of SEC and Big Ten schools and even more could join the Power Four ranks. Deion Deblanc, a 5-foot-10 three-star wide receiver, is being pursued by Oregon and Texas Tech, among others. Senior three-star quarterback Kaleb Bailey has offers from Auburn, TCU and UTSA among others.
But the star of the squad is likely on the defensive side of the ball: Ohio State defensive back commit Devin Sanchez. Sanchez is the top cornerback in the country, per the 247Sports Composite. Linebacker Charles Ross is also a big-time prospect committed to Louisiana State. There's also senior wideout Quannell X Farrakhan Jr. and senior cornerback Nigel Pringle (Arkansas) headed to Power Four programs as well.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Sanchez is rated as one of the prospects in the state and nation. The 247Sports Composite lists Sanchez as a five-star prospect; the No. 5 2025 prospect in the U.S. and the No. 2 prospect in the state of Texas. Texas, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Georgia and Texas A&M were among his two dozen-plus scholarship offers. One 247Sports analysis pegs him as a future early-round NFL draft pick thanks to his experience against quality competition, length and instincts.
Ross -- at 6-1, 195 pounds -- is a top-20 senior prospect in the 2025 class. He committed to LSU while holding offers from Pitt, Yale, UTSA and Baylor. He's a four-star recruit who's flashed skills as a coverage linebacker, pass rusher and nickel.
Listed at just a hair under 6 feet tall, Farrakhan is described as a polished route-runner with some return skills. He had 12 touchdown catches last season and is ranked a four-star recruit. Farrakhan -- ranked a top-50 2025 prospect in Texas -- had offers from before Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Texas A&M, among others, before choosing to play for Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes.

Humble Atascocita fields several future Power Four players, with an Oklahoma commit on the roster, a Texas A&M recruit and a host of other FBS prospects. Brodrick Malone is a three-star wide receiver recruit drawing interest from Division I programs including UNLV, SMU and Arizona State. Senior quarterback Cardae Mack, who has an offer from Stanford and Tennessee, starred in the Eagles' win this season over Westlake with almost 400 yards combined passing and rushing and four touchdowns.
Blaylock is yet another a four-star prospect out of Atascocita; Jelani Watkins is now enrolled at LSU after being ranked a four-star wide receiver, per 247Sports. Blaylock, at 5-11 and 190 pounds, is a top-20 running back in the senior class and top-50 player in Texas. He picked Oklahoma over Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and USC, among others.
Mack, a 5-9, 195 pound junior quarterback, is another piece of the Eagles' talented backfield. Rated a four-star recruit, he holds offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Arizona, Kansas, TCU and USC. Though he plays QB, 247Sports has Mack as a top-20 RB nationwide for the 2026 class.
