The Los Angeles Lakers, at long last, acquired the rangy 3-and-D wing they have needed for quite some time on Sunday. They obtained forward Dorian Finney-Smith, as well as guard Shake Milton, from the Brooklyn Nets in a trade that sent out D'Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis and three second-round draft picks.
The Lakers will host the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are a certified offensive juggernaut, on Tuesday. This game will be a very stiff test for them, as the Cavs are second in points per game and first in offensive rating, overall shooting percentage and 3-point accuracy.
Fortunately, the Lakers will be able to deploy both of their new acquisitions, since Finney-Smith and Milton have been cleared to play.
Both men are shooting very well from 3-point range this season. While the Lakers have needed a mobile forward with length who can effectively guard multiple positions on the perimeter, they have also needed a few more 3-point snipers.
Finney-Smith, who has made 43.5% of his 3-point attempts so far this season, should give them one of those snipers they need. Milton is shooting 38.9% from downtown this season, and since the Lakers are thin in the backcourt right now after trading Russell, he could perhaps give them a boost off the bench.
