GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - If you're planning to travel to or from Grand Junction today then expect delays.
I-70 experienced several lane closures: a crash closed the right lane Westbound between Exit 123 Shoshone and Exit 121; Eastbound the right lane closed between Exit 49: CO 65; Grand Mesa and US 6 (6 miles west of De Beque) at Mile Point 54, also because of a crash.
On CO 139, in both directions, drivers of commercial vehicles are being required to show they have chains on their vehicles or alternative traction devices (such as tire socks.) Passenger vehicles need either snow tires, chains or have all-wheel drive to travel.
Snowplows are out, but the Colorado Department of Transportation has noted that snow and icy conditions are still present -- both on CO 149 and I-70, as well as surrounding roads.
Colorado Drivers are being cautioned to slow down and take precautions today as the winter weather progresses.
