MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Happy Monday! Temperatures have been the major headline recently, but after a few days of above average warmth we are starting to see a shift in our overall weather pattern. Goodbye are the days of upper 70s and low 80s, at least for now; clouds will play a major role in deciding just how warm your town gets today, and it looks like it won't be a one size fits all kind of forecast.
We are waking up and walking out the door to numbers in the 50s across central Alabama and holding strong in the 60s for our southern counties.
While some sunshine is expected today, the majority (if any) of it will be seen in south Alabama... overcast skies early this morning will be stubborn to clear out for many spots, and that is why afternoon temperatures will range from the mid and upper 60s into the low and even mid 70s.
Watch the latest live and local weather data below, streaming on WSFA Weather Now! Please note, this stream does not include live severe weather coverage, only data on the latest weather conditions.
Is it a major drop? No: but compared to near 80° temperatures at our warmest point, it is a bit closer to the seasonable averages.
FIRST ALERT: While a few hit or miss showers are possible Monday and Tuesday, we expect multiple waves of heavy rain to arrive and stick around starting Wednesday. This will linger into Thursday, bringing the potential of several inches of rain to most of our area.
We will call for a general one to three inches of rain this week, with heavier amounts just north of our area. Isolated flooding could develop, mainly over north Alabama.
