Bengaluru: Step out of your homes and witness a rare total lunar eclipse Sunday night (Sept 7).Visible across India, including Karnataka, the celestial show begins at 9.57pm, with totality from 11.01pm to 12.23am. The unique thing this time is people can watch the phenomenon for 82 minutes.During this phase, the Moon will turn a striking copper-red. The eclipse is safe to view with the naked eye, experts said. The last time there was a full lunar eclipse was in July 2018 and the next one is in June next year for 28 minutes.Guruprasad BR, director, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, said this is one of the most-beautiful celestial events that can be seen with the naked eye, free of cost and accessible to all. "Unlike solar eclipse, no special equipment is required -- just pure joy in witnessing it."
