'Children are welcomed into the nursery by the nurturing staff team', the report said
Staff at a Filton nursery say they are buzzing after receiving a glowing report from Ofsted on their first ever inspection. Eden Early Years was founded in 2024 and received a 'Good' rating when inspectors carried out their first ever visit on September 1.
"We are incredibly proud to have had our first Ofsted inspection go so positively, it really is testament to the team and their hard work and dedication," Nursery Manager Emma Jones said.
"Eden has had quite the journey over the last year, growing our family base as well as our staff team, and embedding our ethos."
There are currently 80 childen enrolled at Eden Early Years, which is open from 7am to 6pm on weekdays throughout the year, apart from bank holidays. The environment created by staff at the nursery was particularly praised by Ofsted inspectors.
"Children are welcomed into the nursery by the nurturing staff team," the report said. "New children settle quickly because staff provide them with reassurance and use the information gathered from parents to meet their individual needs."
Additionally, staff were praised for encouraging children's interest in the natural world with initiatives such as leaf collecting in the park or trips to the zoo. Ms Jones said she was particularly pleased to see these elements of the nursery recognised in the report.
"We put great emphasis on our children having access to a rich and challenging curriculum, with ample opportunities to spend time in nature and explore our local community," she said.
"It was wonderful to see the report highlighting our provision of a safe, nurturing environment, respectful care practices, and positive parent-carer relationships. We look forward to building on this solid foundation and continuing to create an environment which fosters growth, warmth, and a love of learning."
Eden Early Years received a 'Good' rating in all the categories examined by Ofsted: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development leadership and management.
That led to the nursery receiving an overall effectiveness rating of Good, the second highest available to Ofsted inspectors.
The only slight negative identified in the report was occasionally poor organisation at mealtimes.
Ms Jones and her team will be hoping to go one better and secure an Outstanding rating when inspectors next visit, which will be at some point in the next six years.
