Dec. 12 -- A wintry mix is expected to develop over Iowa and into southern Minnesota late Friday night, bringing with it snow, sleet and freezing rain.
The National Weather Service states snow and ice could lead to travel impacts Friday night and Saturday on untreated surfaces.
Precipitation will turn to just freezing rain Saturday morning across southern Minnesota before transitioning back to snow by Saturday afternoon or evening.
Snow accumulation of less than 1 inch is expected.
People should exercise extra caution when traveling during freezing rain, and slow down and give yourself extra time to travel.
