MLB insider warns Phillies not to lose their 'most indispensable' player

The Philadelphia Phillies are at great risk of losing one of their biggest stars, Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, looking to secure his bag.

He is coming off a season where he was a force to be reckoned with offensively, hitting .240/.365/.563 with an NL-leading 56 home runs and an MLB-leading 132 runs batted in. On top of that, he did not miss a single regular-season game.

Schwarber will likely generate a ton of interest from a handful of teams this winter. However, he does have the desire to stay in Philadelphia, and the Phillies would love to have him back.

There is no denying what Schwarber has done for the Phillies over the last few years. He has been a leader both on and off the field, and USA Today's Bob Nightengale believes he is far too valuable to lose over the winter, via Foul Territory.

"Forget what he does on the field, but off the field, he just means everything. I think he is one of the most indispensable players in that whole clubhouse. He's their clubhouse leader. Everything goes through him."

Despite being a DH, he is far too valuable to let go. However, if Philadelphia wants to keep their man, they are going to have to have some deep pockets.

ESPN's Kiley McDaniel puts the 33-year-old's market at four years, $128 million with an AAV of $32 million.
