SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - During the busy holiday season, protesters are outside an Upstate Amazon fulfillment center as thousands of workers go on strike across the country.
Members of the Teamsters union are calling for Amazon to reach a labor agreement so delivery drivers can receive benefits, better working conditions, and increased wages. Under Amazon's business model, the drivers work for third-party partners and therefore are not considered Amazon employees.
Several people are gathered with signs outside the Amazon fulfillment center in Spartanburg County with signs for the Teamsters and "Amazon Strike."
Amazon said the strikes and protests will not impact operations. The company also told national news outlets that they will not collectively bargain with non-Amazon employees.
Workers at multiple Amazon facilities nationwide walked out of work on Thursday morning, including a metro Atlanta facility.
