OnePlus is gearing up to unveil its latest operating system, OxygenOS 16, on 16 October. This new version, based on Android16, will debut with OnePlus 15. A dedicated page has been launched to showcase what users can expect from this update. The company has teased several features, including enhanced connectivity and multitasking capabilities.
Enhanced Multitasking and Connectivity Features
The upcoming OxygenOS 16 promises a seamless multitasking experience. According to OnePlus, users can scroll through Instagram Reels for three hours without any slowdown. Additionally, the update supports one hour of gaming multitasking. Users can switch between 120Hz Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and phone calls while recording the screen.
OxygenOS 16 will also introduce new connectivity options. Users will be able to drag and drop files and mirror their phone's screen on macOS or Windows PCs. The update will facilitate remote working by allowing device syncing with Apple Watch, iPhone, OnePlus tablets, and phones.
Redesigned User Interface
The OxygenOS 16 update brings a fresh look to the home screen, app tray, and widgets. App icons are now circular, while widgets feature a squircle design. The native OnePlus Photo app has been revamped with toggles similar to Apple's Liquid Glass. Changes in animations and user interface are also evident in the Notes and Weather apps.
OnePlus has highlighted that the new update will support Google's Gemini AI models through its AI suite. This integration will bring advanced on-device AI tools to users. The OnePlus 15 is expected to come pre-installed with OxygenOS 16, while older models may receive it via an OTA update if eligible.
Zero-Lag Multitasking on Devices
A microsite dedicated to OxygenOS 16 claims that the Android 16-based update offers "zero-lag" multitasking. On the OnePlus Pad 3, users can access up to five apps simultaneously in multi-window or pop-up window layouts. Floating windows can be resized by grabbing their bottom left corner.
Additionally, users can navigate between apps effortlessly by swiping across screens. This feature aims to enhance productivity by providing a smooth transition between tasks without interruptions.
The launch of OxygenOS 16 marks an important step for OnePlus as it continues integrating AI-powered tools into its devices. With these updates, users can expect improved performance and functionality across various applications.
