Some Endico brand frozen vegetables have been recalled due to concerns about listeria contamination.
The FDA announced Thursday that Peas and Carrots and Mixed Vegetables sold by the company Endico Potatoes of Mount Vernon, NY. may be a health risk.
"(Lysteria) can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems," the agency said in a press release.
For healthy people, symptoms are more likely to include fever, headaches, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other temporary ailments, the agency said. Listeria can also cause stillbirths in pregnant women.
No illnesses have yet been reported due to the potentially contaminated vegetables, the agency said.
The products were distributed to multiple states in July and August, mostly in the northeast and to Florida.
The bags are 2.5 lbs and are clear plastic and have the Endico label.
Lot codes below are printed on the side of the bags.
