Almost €10k raised to bring home body of Cork mum who died unexpectedly in America | Cork Beo

Donations are pouring in from across the country to help a family bring their loved one home to Cork after her sudden death abroad.

Seodhna Deasy, a mum-of-three from Cork city, was on holiday in America when she became unwell and required urgent medical care. She remained in the ICU for three weeks, with her daughter Kayleigh and father Roger by her bedside, until she unfortunately passed away.

A fundraiser was set up yesterday by Seodhna's family to give her the 'dignified send off' that she deserves, and it has already raised €9,000 from over 200 donors.

The GoFundMe reads: "Hello, we are raising funds towards the cost of our beautiful Seodhna's funeral. Seodhna was a mother, daughter, sister and friend to many. She will be hugely missed by all who knew and loved her.

"Seodhna was on holidays in America when she ended up needing urgent medical care and was rushed to the ICU. Her daughter Kayleigh and father Roger were by her bedside for 3 weeks until she unfortunately passed away. We are waiting for her repatriation which will hopefully happen soon.

"The donations raised will go towards the dignified send off that Seodhna deserves and we would appreciate any help possible to make this happen please. Thank you for your generosity, Seodhna's Family".

In a touching tribute that was shared on social media, her adoring family said that they "couldn't have asked for a better mother".

Her son shared a sweet selfie of the pair, writing: "I'm still lost for words." He said the siblings "couldn't have asked for a better Mother. We'll always love you forever. I'm absolutely heartbroken. I don't know what we'll do without you. Rest easy, my queen. We love you so much."

Another paid tribute and said he was heartbroken that she had "gained her wings." He wrote that she would "always hold a special place in my heart."
