November is a month to remember for businessman, philanthropist, educator and Chairman of AMNI Petroleum Exploration and Marketing Company, Chief Tunde Afolabi, as family members, business associates and friends of the astute businessman, rolled out the drums for him, on November 5, this year, to mark his 75th birthday.

A man with multi-feathered cap, Chief Afolabi, who founded AMNI, an indigenous petroleum exploration company, in 1974, has been a big player in the Oil and Gas Sector of the economy for the past 33 years.

As the first Nigerian to own an offshore platform, the businessman started out in the USA with Mobil in the Caribbean, as a Project Geologist, after his Master's Degree; a position that duly exposed him to the nitty gritty of Petroleum Exploration, Onshore and Offshore operations.

Reflecting on his life journey, the businessman attributes his success in this field, to longevity, hardwork, honesty and a good staff back up.

The philanthropist also believes business should not be mixed with politics as processes are different.

A strong advocate of companies rendering assistance to technical institutions to help structure a good practical exposure and support to students of such institutions, Chief Afolabi's philanthropic nature is evident in the huge number of students in higher institutions he has continued to support financially.

Married to Mrs. Oluwaseyi and blessed with highly successful children, Chief Afolabi, at 75, gives glory to God, while attributing his youthful look to his good staff and an understanding family.

He is the Chancellor, National Open University; Chancellor,Technical University,Ibadan; Chairman, Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria; member of many Social Clubs, and that of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, a lover of golf, Chief Afolabi has many Awards to his credit, including the Distinguished Leadership Award by Environmental Magazine.

He intends to mark the milestone age with series of activities, including Special Birthday Lecture, Visitation to the Sickle Cell Hospital, Formation of a Petroleum Club, Thanksgiving service, Golf Sessions and Birthday Dinner.
