Met Office says 'take care' on Sunday morning - Liverpool Echo

The Met Office has said to "take care" on Sunday morning as it predicts frosty weather across northern parts of the UK tonight. Overall, a drier and brighter but chillier day is predicted for tomorrow (Sunday November 30).

An update posted on X earlier today said: "With clear skies developing overnight, temperatures will drop quickly. Widespread frost with icy stretches northern parts of the UK tonight. Take care when travelling on Sunday morning".

In the North West, tonight will see cloudy skies as rain continues through the evening, eventually turning drier from midnight.

Clear skies could allow frost patches to develop across the region in the early hours of tomorrow, though temperatures in Merseyside are set to stay at five degree Celsius until 10am.

Earlier today, the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for icy conditions across North West England, East Midlands, North East England, West Midlands, Yorkshire & Humber.

The Met Office says the conditions could potentially cause some disruption or injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

The warning is in effect from 10pm tonight until 9am tomorrow and states that there will probably be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

A second warning was issued for heavy rainfall which could also bring some disruption

It will run from midnight on Monday until 3am on Tuesday.

The rain warning for Monday indicates that a band of persistent, heavy rain will gradually move east throughout the day.

In the UK, weather warnings are issued for rain, thunderstorms, wind, snow, lightning, ice, extreme heat and fog.

These warnings are given a colour depending on a combination of both the impact of the weather may have and the likelihood of those impacts occurring.

A yellow weather warning means that there is a potential of bad weather situations causing disruption to travel and activities

An amber warning means that there is an increased potential of bad weather situations causing disruption to travel, risk to life and property. A red warning means that dangerous weather is expected and you should take action to keep yourself and others safe.
