The news was announced by Universal Pictures in a cast announcement video, which previewed the A-list star in the role of Shrek and Fiona's daughter, Felicia. Also teased in the short visual are the return of Mike Myers as the titular character, Cameron Diaz as Fiona and Eddie Murphy as Donkey, who asks the Magic Mirror, "Who's the fairest of them all?"

In addition to the video, the film's official Instagram account went on to share a tweet Zendaya wrote in August 2017 that read, "I watch Shrek too often in my adulthood."
