Study ranks 'Most Sinful Cities' in America, names one Wisconsin city the least sinful

(WFRV) -- Las Vegas, famously dubbed "Sin City," has once again claimed the top spot on WalletHub's 2024 Most Sinful Cities in America list. The rankings highlight metro areas with high levels of vice or bad behavior, using metrics like violent crime rates, gambling prevalence, and adult entertainment.

WalletHub analyzed data from 182 of the largest U.S. cities, scoring them in seven categories: anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, vanity, and laziness. Sources ranged from the FBI and CDC to Tinder and Google search trends.

Las Vegas dominated in categories like gambling and adult entertainment while also scoring high in identity theft and vanity-related searches such as plastic surgery inquiries. Houston and Los Angeles followed as the second- and third-most sinful cities, with Houston excelling in "lust" and Los Angeles leading in "vanity."

Meanwhile, Wisconsin saw mixed results. Madison was ranked among the least sinful cities, placing 178th overall with notable low scores in "lust" (167th) and "laziness" (176th). In contrast, Milwaukee landed 76th, driven by a high "excesses and vices" score (12th) and a concerning "anger and hatred" ranking (22nd).
