Alex Scott has revealed she won't be remaining in Australia after her partner Jess Glynne explained the devastating reason she wasn't there when Alex left I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.
The former England footballer, 41, became the first campmate to be eliminated from the reality programme on Friday (November 28) after receiving the lowest number of public votes.
Throughout her fortnight in the jungle, Scott completed a skydive from 12,000 feet and even trudged through animal innards during the show's gruelling trials.
Whilst evicted contestants typically stay at an Australian hotel until the series concludes, Alex has revealed her intention to return to the UK immediately to be a "rock" for Jess.
This follows the revelation that the singer, who has been in a relationship with Alex since 2023, couldn't travel to Australia because her mother recently suffered a stroke, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Following Alex's departure from the ITV reality programme, Jess posted on Instagram explaining the heartbreaking circumstances behind her absence.
She wrote: "I know people will wonder why I wasn't there at the end of the bridge, so I wanted to share something personal. Over the last few weeks, my mum suffered a stroke and needed urgent brain surgery.
"It's been a really serious, life-altering time for my family, and I've had to stay close to home. "Alex would always want me to be where I'm needed most. I can't wait to have her back by my side."
Now, Alex has told the Mirror: "I want to be there for the wrap party but I need to get home straight away. She is my Jessica - I am going to go home and be her rock."
She added: "I knew there was always a possibility of her not being across the bridge, if her mum hadn't got better, or if things had been getting worse, which they have been. But it was a big decision for me to not pass this opportunity, and Jess was the one that pushed me to be here."
Alex also revealed to the Mirror that she found it difficult not being able to stay in touch with Jess whilst in the camp. "I found that really tough in the jungle, not being able to speak to Jess every day and just check in and see what's going on, and how she was doing," she explained.
"When we did speak, it was an emotional moment."
This follows Jess posting that she was gutted Alex "didn't get the airtime" she merited. She said: "My woman might be out far earlier than she ever deserved but I'm so unbelievably proud of her. She didn't get the airtime to show how incredible she really is and trust me, this is only the beginning."
Alex remained in the I'm a Celebrity jungle for 14 days before being eliminated by the public vote. Following her departure, she said: "Oh my days. It's like being free. It feels strange, it doesn't feel real.
"It's been such an incredible experience, mentally it's so tough and I did struggle at times missing home. But I'm so glad I got to do this series with such a great bunch of campmates. The laughter the humour with everyone bouncing off each other we really connected, and I wasn't expecting that coming into the jungle."
