Belgium won 4-2 in Cardiff to take control of their World Cup qualifying group, moving a point clear of North Macedonia with a game in hand and four clear of last night's opponents.
Joe Rodon had given the hosts a shock lead but a Kevin de Bruyne double, Thomas Meunier flipped the game on its head before Nathan Broadhead pulled one back and then Leandro Trossard replied instantly.
Raskin was handed his fifth start for his country, lining up in the centre of the pitch alongside Aston Villa's Amadou Onana with de Bruyne just in front of them.
The Rangers star turned in a typically tireless display in the number six role and was crucial to the performance and win, so much so that fans and the media in the country now see him as a must pick. They will now expect to see him selected to face Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein next month.
Walfoot.be wrote: "A true bulldog in midfield, Nicolas Raskin can once again be credited with an excellent performance for the Red Devils. Despite injury returns, it's hard to see how Rudi Garcia could do without him now."
Rating the 24-year-old's display as an 8/10, Nieuwsblad chastised Russell Martin for not using him earlier in the season and labelled him Belgium's new 'regulator' in midfield.
They wrote: "It's incomprehensible that the Glasgow Rangers manager dropped Raskin earlier this season. That alone earned him a C4 in Scotland. He was incredibly determined and firm in duels, but also a good follow-through player on the ball. He was the regulator in midfield. That way, you don't need Witsel."
RTBF felt Raskin was next after de Bruyne in terms of being influential in the game,
They said: "Kevin De Bruyne certainly wore the captain's armband and scored two goals from the penalty spot, but there was a second conductor in the Belgian midfield. Technically sound, with good acceleration in the first few meters, capable of combining in small spaces, a ball snatcher, a tireless worker, Nicolas Raskin never gives up.
"He received a lot of direction from his manager in the first half and it doesn't seem to bother him in the least. Ripe for a move to a more elite destination than Glasgow Rangers, he is becoming increasingly indispensable to the heart of the team's play."
