While meteorological (or climatological) summer is gone, the fine weather is just getting started. We're seeing a streak of bright, mild days - and cool nights - right through the end of the week.
Highs again make it back to the low and mid 70s along the coast and near 80 farther inland. Sea breezes are with us Tuesday and Wednesday, then the winds turn southwest to bring in some humidity Thursday through Sunday.
Introduce a chance for thunder in Friday's forecast -- although it's not with high confidence. It seems a cold front will move in then stall overhead through the weekend, heightening the risk for showers, but not promising them.
Timing is anyone's guess this far out, but it appears we are looking at our best chance on Saturday afternoon through much of Sunday. It's not the greatest news if you have plans, but we are still trying to make up a 5+ inch rain deficit from the summer.
Our foliage season hangs in the balance. That said, I'm not thinking this year will be a dazzler. Some splashes of decent color, but not a great season because of the drought.
