Ransomware hits supply chain software firm Blue Yonder ahead of Thanksgiving

Acquired by Panasonic in 2021, the Arizona-based company works with some of the world's leading grocers, retailers and logistics firms to help them manage their supply chains.

Blue Yonder is working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident and has implemented defensive and forensic protocols to limit the damage and help determine the extent of the impact. Blue Yonder officials do not have an estimated restoration time.

The company is actively monitoring the Blue Yonder Azure public cloud environment, but has seen no suspicious activity.

Morrisons, a U.K.-based grocery chain, said the Blue Yonder incident impacted its warehouse management system for fresh food and produce, according to a spokesperson.

"We are currently operating satisfactorily on our back up systems and we're working very hard to deliver for our customers across the country," the spokesperson said via email.

There is no known claim of responsibility for the attack and there were no details provided about what type of information was accessed during the incident.

Blue Yonder has notified relevant customers and is providing regular updates on the investigation, according to the spokesperson.

The incident comes just days before the Thanksgiving Day weekend, which is a major holiday in the U.S. and a critical period for grocers and retailers.
